Our History

Formula Foundation has been in development since 2018, located close to the internationally recognised Snetterton Circuit. Co-founder Steve Wills has over 30 years’ experience in motorsport engineering, fabrication, prototype development and manufacturing. The concept was inspired to develop a budget friendly single seater racing car, as an exciting, safe, yet affordable, step up the ladder from junior karting or as an introduction to newcomers. His experience in single seater racing dates to the late 1980’s building, testing and running Formula Ford, Formula Renault and many more.

Lewis Wills

Lewis Wills, Steve’s son joined the project in February 2020. Lewis has spent his childhood in and around the workshop. He first tried his hand at welding at 6 years old, folding, cutting and welding metal to create a unique metal school project -no cardboard cereal boxes here! Lewis had his first motocross bike at 7 years old. Starting on a Pw50 he is now on a YZ250. During the years he has learnt to prepare and maintain his bikes himself, gaining important workshop skills. Since joining Steve in 2020 his knowledge and ability in fabrication and engineering has improved immensely making him an essential part of the project.

Our vision

Over this period Steve has seen a massive increase in the rising costs of junior racing. He felt that the fun and affordable options were no longer available and wanted to offer a single seater racing car which would be available to all. With a reasonable purchase price and low running costs, Formula Foundation offers an entry level into single seater racing for everyone.

Richard Huddart

Steve’s partner Richard Huddart has been a long, lifetime supporter of junior single seater racing. Richard has enjoyed a long career working in the medical profession and shares the same passion and views as Steve, so between them, they decided to design and build the Formula Foundation Car. Richards knowledgeable in-depth background as well as his forward-thinking outlook has played an essential part in the development of this project.
